The Copywriter Underground – despite serving mostly as an outlet for a grouchy, geezerish copywriter bent on annihilation of social media mega-hype – has been picked by the oDesk blog as one of the Top 40 Writer’s blogs.
And yes, it appears that oDesk actually visited the blogs in question instead of simply crafting another linkbait list. Kudos for that.
I’m touched. And while I’m tempted to gush like Sally Fields gushed in her 1985 Oscar speech, decorum remains a critical component of the Underground’s universe.
So I won’t.
I did find a handful of smaller writer’s blog I hadn’t read until now – a happy underline to any Monday morning.
Simply put, oDesk’s Top 40 list is worth a look.

Woo-hoo for you, kiddo.

Now I can retire in peace. This is The Big One.
I must be listed as “Various Others” on Copyblogger. Yes, that must be it.

I actually found you through the oDesk post. Nice site!
Congrats! As above, it’s how I found the site lol!

Welcome to both of you. Things are a little different here – not too many “three verbs that drive ‘em wild” posts, but lots of (hopefully) loftier looks at the freelance writer’s life.
Congrats – hopefully many oDesk participants will check out your blog…and will start to rethink their race to the bottom with their ridiculously-low oDesk project bids.
Almost all oDesk postings I see ask for top-notch direct marketing, web and collateral materials at pennies on the dollar – and sadly there are always floods of writers eager to bid even lower than the already-low asking price to score the job.
Be great if a few more started reading respected blogs like yours…and stopped selling their own value short. That would make it easier for all of us to earn fairer professional wages.
Your comment is perceptive, but sadly, I don’t hold out much hope.
My perspective is one of advancement; let everyone else fight it out for low-bid work while you chase the high-end clients and projects you want.
You write your own Web site or blog?
***Congratulations!*** And well deserved! Hey, how about writing a book? I can see it now, “The Grouchy Geezer’s Social Media Guide for World Domination” or “The Grouchy Geezer’s Guide to becoming a Social Media Guru.” ahaha.

Fun to write, but in this environment, it’s probably not the big seller it would need to be to justify the time.
Then again, with so much social media inanity flying about, how hard would it be to write?
