118 Main Street (downtown next to Kona’s). Amusingly, the place is only called “The Bookstore” and they have no computer or database or even a computerized cash register — just an old manual keypunch adding machine.
Also no website or even (as far as I could tell) an ability to accept credit cards.

That reminds me of The Bookery in Placerville, also complete with squeaky wood floors and a big ol’ mellow dog mascot. And great staff. Provide a topic or author and they’ll lead you to loaded shelves. Then there are the “hidden rooms” off to the sides with even *more* books.

I love ebooks and my ereader (I seem to get more read), but there’s nothing like browsing a good used bookstore, where you never know what you’re going to “stumble over,” but what you do find is liable to be reasonably priced…
I spend hours in second hand bookstores here in Toronto. We’ve got quite a few good ones. The ?problem? is, because the books are so cheap I tend to buy ones that I never would otherwise! I’ve got a bookshelf full of books I’ve never even cracked. Overwhelm alert!
